Important Information – Tunisia

Following the recent terrorist attack on Sousse beach in Tunisia on the 26th June 2015, we wanted to put together a quick guide with information and advice on what to do if you are currently in Tunisia, or if you have a trip booked to Tunisia in the near future.

Anyone currently in Tunisia…

If you are currently in Tunisia please stay in touch with your tour operator and follow any advice from Tunisian security authorities.

If you are a British national currently in Tunisia and wish to inform the FCO of your whereabouts, or if you are concerned about friends or family in Tunisia, you should contact them by:

  • Calling on +44 207 008 0000
  • Completing a form online
  • Texting Tunisia to +447860010026. You’ll then receive a reply, please respond with your details. (Text messages should be restricted to 160 characters.)

If you or a family member have sought medical attention, please contact our emergency assistance team on +44 1732 853 333 as soon as you can, so we can liaise directly with your doctors and family.

We completely understand that this event may have left you wanting to return home early, in this instance you should contact your Travel Agent or Tour Operator first to see if they can assist you. In the event that they cannot help, please contact our claims team on +44 (0) 1732 853 358 to discuss how we can assist you.

Although travel insurance policies have very specific terms and conditions, especially with regards to terrorism, we have spoken directly to our Insurers at length about this incident. Our Insurers are very sympathetic to this situation, and so they have promised to ensure that all claims are considered as compassionately as possible and based on the individual circumstances involved.

Anyone who has booked a trip to Tunisia before 31st October 2015…

Following the recent events we appreciate that you may not wish to travel to Tunisia, and so you should liaise directly with your Tour Operator or Travel Agent to arrange either cancellation or a change in travel dates. Please note, Boots Travel Insurance will be more than happy to change the dates on your policy (with no administration fee), if this is the option you decide to take.

Most travel insurance policies will not provide cover for cancellation due to terrorist activity, as this should be covered by your Tour Operator or Travel Agent. Unfortunately this means Boots Travel Insurance will not be able to cover cancellation claims due to this event.

Our thoughts and wishes are with all of the people and families involved in this shocking incident, and we urge customers to contact us if they have any questions or queries.

If you require any further information, you can visit the FCO website or contact Travel Claims Facilities directly to discuss a claim on +44 (0) 1732 853 358. You can download a claim form by visiting our Claims page.
